Utility Star Analytics utilizes a web-based dashboard display to access data in real-time and connects to various databases, data warehouse solutions, spreadsheets, XML applications and other data sources in a single location. USA' built-in security framework provides role-based user permissions and access control. USA Enterprise Suite is complete with the software to custom build dashboards, perform what-if analytics, enable alerts and generate reports based on the data displayed in a dashboard.
USA System Data Sources
Any relational database for which JDBC or ODBC drivers are available can be used as an external data source to provide chart data. Excel spreadsheets can also be used if the USA application server is installed on a Windows server. Connectivity to Relational Databases and Excel Content
USA System Implementation
Implementation of USA can be completed within weeks or a few months, rather than lengthier timeframes typically associated with more complex Business Intelligence project implementations. USA project implementation also has only a minor impact on customer IT resources as well. Compliance with industry standards (XML, JDBC, ODBC, LDAP) also helps to simplify product installation and maintenance. The Flash and Flex® based user interface delivers a rich user experience while the Java (J2EE) system server provides robust back-end processing performance.
USA System Requirements
Client operating systems using these browsers and the Adobe Flash Player plug-in may be used. Examples include Windows, Mac and Linux. System user access utilizes the Adobe Flash-based client application and runs on web browsers supporting the Adobe Flash Player plug-in (version 10.0 or above). This includes web browser applications such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera.
USA Application Server
USA employs the J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) Web application framework and should be deployed on a J2EE-compliant application server which complies with Servlet 2.3 and JSP 1.2 (or later) application versions. The Apache Tomcat 5.5.17 (or above) application server is also bundled with USA and may also be deployed to IBM WebSphere, BEA Weblogic, JBoss, or a number of other J2EE application servers utilizing the proper Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
USA System Application Server Host Operating System
Any server operating system for which the correct JVM is available. This would include, but would not be limited to, Windows, Solaris, Linux or AIX. Mac OS is not supported as the server operating system. USA may also be deployed within a virtual server configuration setup.
USA System Repository Database Compatibility
An enterprise-class relational database, such as Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 is required, along with the correct JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) or ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) drivers. The repository can be deployed on the application server or a separate server that has reliable network connectivity to the application server. Regular backups of the repository database should be performed using the database vendor's utilities.
